Concrete kerb stone for edging roads, footpaths, driveways and planted areas. The kerb is what holds a paved surface together: without a firm edge, blocks creep outward under traffic and the surface loosens from the perimeter inward. Cast at 1500 to 2000 PSI in grey, supplied and installed across Karachi.
Key features
- 457 mm long x 304 mm high x 152 mm thick (18" x 12" x 6"), standard Karachi kerb size
- Edge restraint for paved surfaces, stops lateral creep at the perimeter
- 1500 to 2000 PSI compressive strength, specified for lateral loading rather than direct traffic
- Shaped face profile giving a clean, finished road edge
- Grey finish, standard for road and society work
- Supply and installation from one vendor
- Delivery across Karachi
Product details
A paved surface fails from its edges first. Without restraint at the perimeter, every pass of a vehicle nudges the outer blocks a fraction outward. Joints open, jointing sand washes out, and the loosening works its way inward until the middle of the surface begins to move as well. The kerb stone prevents this: a continuous, bedded and haunched edge that gives the paving something solid to push against.
Kerbs also do the visual work on a job. They draw the line between carriageway and footpath, between driveway and planting bed, and give a finished surface the crisp definition that separates professional work from blocks simply laid on the ground.
Because a kerb is loaded sideways rather than driven over, it is specified differently from paving. These kerbs are cast at 1500 to 2000 PSI and are suited to edge restraint, footpath borders, driveway perimeters, garden and planter edging, and society road margins.
At 457 mm long, each piece covers roughly one and a half feet of running edge, so a hundred feet of kerb line takes approximately 67 pieces before cutting and wastage.
Star Crete supplies and installs: excavation of the kerb trench, concrete bedding and haunching, setting to line and level, and jointing. Because the kerb and the paving are laid by the same team as part of one job, the edge and the surface finish to a single line.
